Yeah man, they're legit.

What the fuck is a pokey stick?

Also, is Klara's (or Karla's) Kitchen still open up there? They used to be called Firpo's but one of the last times I was in Gainesville they had changed the name. Amazing fucking southern food...best country fried steak and biscuits and gravy EVER. I don't see why they wouldn't still be around, but you never know.

Also, the best thing about kids moving up there, growing beards, and selling out, was that many of them would also sell off their records to Hyde and Zeke, who would sell them for mad cheap. I picked up a lot of great shit at that place.

I never heard of that place. Do you remember where they are located (street or other businesses...)?

Nah man I haven't been there in at least 6 or 7 years. I just remember it was just north of the University district, kinda hilbilly area (which isn't saying much up there haha)

Nevermind, I just googled it and apparently it was turned into a NY style deli in 2005.

And I still don't know what a fucking pokey stick is!

Naysayer if you're requesting King 7 I think I still have their ep that I can upload if Chip is willing to host it. I know I still have their split with Jive Step Bunch but unfortunately I don't have a way of transferring vinyl to digital.

Chip, thanks for posting up that Brethren shit! I don't really listen to my records anymore so it'll be sweet to be able to listen to the 7 inch again, and my cd-r's of trapped in reality and all my rage scratched to shit quite some time ago.

Also, how about some entries for Anger, Out of Spite, and Set Apart?

Here it is, the ep from King 7, "One For the Road." Spooky Tricks has always been my favorite song on this, and I wish they had recorded more. Their live shows were great and would usually include covers of "Monkey Man" by Toots and the Maytals, among other ska classics. Unfortunately I smoke way too much weed and have forgotten what other classics they played though. Members of this band at one point or another included South Florida's own straight edge scooter skinhead, Stan Obal on keyboards (who has or had one of the most impressive hardcore/punk record collections known to man mind you), and ex members of Jive Step Bunch and AAA.

Also, while I was uploading this it got me to thinking of other ska bands from the mid 90's and it suddenly dawned on me that I should upload a South Florida classic...The Worms from West Palm and their album Fish Fry. These guys were a skinhead ska/oi band with like 3 singers. Unfortunately I only got to see them play once at Cheers, but they were a lot of fun. In fact I think that seeing them play then when I was like 16 and dancing around drunk that night with a bunch of the skins that were there to see them helped inspire me to shave my head and throw on a pair of boots a few months later. These songs have definitely stood the test of time for me and I can still rock this album from start to finish to this day. Enjoy!

edit: and I almost forgot...Stan Obal was also in Timescape Zero, whose material would make for another good addition to Chip's blog ;)

Pokey sticks are pretty much a pizza without sauce, just dough and lots of cheese, its just a pizza cut into cheese stick portions and you can get whatever dipping sauces you want. I forgot what place sells its but pokey sticks and gator bev are the only things i like about gville.

also please someone upload some tension
